Support Groups

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

We are not immune to the daily challenges of living in a broken and fallen world.  Some know those challenges more accutely and need the support of others to walk through them.  Rivermont has several support groups that are aimed at providing the needed support to walk through some of life's greatest challenges, like the loss of a loved one, caring for an aging parent or a special needs family member.  We are committed to providing a safe place for you to not only receive care but also give care to others.

GriefShare Support Group

GriefShare is a support ministry offering help and encouragement to those grieving the death of a family member of friend. Trained leaders provide safe, confidential and Christ-centered groups where people can process and grow through their loss.  Each Grief Share session has three distinct elements:

  • Video seminars with experts talking about a variety of topics on grief and recovery.
  • Support group discussion of the video content along with that week's challenges.
  • Personal study and reflection using the workbook and journaling.

GriefShare meets for 13 weeks on Wednesdays at 4:15 pm in our Discipleship Wing, Room 202.  Download a building map.  For more information, contact Dr. Barry Armstrong.

Caregivers' Support Group

Our Caregivers' Support Group provides support and care for those who are serving as caregivers for an aging or chronically ill family member.  This group provides an opportunity to discuss the challenges of caregiving as well as explore healthy practices of caring for the caregiver.

The Caregivers' Support group meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 10:30am in the Library. Download a building map.  For more information, contact Pastor Emeritus Lowell Sykes.

Bearing Burdens Support Group (Special Needs)

Our Bearing Burdens Support Group is for family members who provide care for, or spend a lot of time with someone who has special needs. There are unique blessings and unique challenges to caring for our loved ones who have their own unique abilities and challenges, and we want to provide a safe space to allow our members to support one another in their daily walk.

The Special Needs Support Group meets on the 1st Sunday of each month at 9:45am in the Library. Downlaod a building map.  For more information, contact Jennifer Kuhn.
