Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing for the Lord’s Day

In our text, this Sunday, the prophet Balaam journeys to Moab in order to deliver to King Balak the message from The LORD concerning cursing or blessing Israel.  We will see a clear clash between the vision and purposes of King Balak and the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  This text reminds us that our ultimate allegiance in life is directed toward our Great King and Savior Jesus Christ.  When God the King speaks His word among the nations, they must surrender to His lead and follow His way.  No King or authority structure will ever get in the way of God the King and His purposes in this world.  To come prepared for the sermon this Sunday please read and meditate on Numbers 22:36-23:12, Psalm 146, and The Westminster Confession of Faith Chapter 1.6.

As we gather to worship our Triune King, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit this Lord’s day, we will have fresh reminders of his sovereign faithfulness as we sing the Hymn of Praise “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”, the Acclamation of Praise “My Hope is Built” and the Hymn of Response “Great is Thy Faithfulness”.  Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
